One day we were kicking it at the Bacon Sports Mancave and thought to ourselves, “It would be a fun idea to create an event where we can bring together our bacon loving, jersey rocking, sports fan community. What goes well with bacon and sports?….BEER!” and just like that the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration was born.
So what exactly was the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration? We like to call it the hat trick of awesomeness. Bringing together of three of the greatest things in life with the brands and people that love them.
We attended many bacon and beer events and were left unimpressed. Either the food was good and the beer was an afterthought or the beer was good but the food was garbage. In both scenarios the overall atmosphere and level of engagement left something to be desired.
That’s why we set out to create the greatest event that Chicago has ever seen. When we do something we do it big, so we decided to rent out Union Station, one of the largest venues in Chicago. As you see in our recap video, even an event space of that size couldn’t contain the awesomeness that was pouring out of the place.
How many other bacon and beer festivals have you seen multiple dance circles break out? None that I know of.
Our formula was simple. We brought together 700 bacon loving, jersey rocking, sports fans with 25 craft breweries serving delicious craft beer tastings, and combined it with 17 of Chicago’s best restaurants serving bacon inspired creations. We then added in sports themed companies with unique activations and encouraged everyone to rock jerseys. After that we splashed in 50 extra doses of sports fun (Nerf games, Golf simulator, pop-a-shot, cornhole, ping pong, football toss, shoot the hockey puck) and a DJ bumping hip hop tunes to top it off.
Here are the brands that participated in the event:

It was important that we not only executed at a high level, but we wanted to make sure that from a marketing and engagement standpoint it was a win-win situation for both the attendees as well as the exhibiting breweries, restaurants, and sponsors, so that’s why we made sure to capture as much content as possible.
Here are a look at some of the happy attendees and exhibitors.
The Action Booth was an absolute hit.
RedEye Chicago created a Nerf gun shooting range.
The baseball card wallpaper had prizes written on the back of some of the cards.
The jerseys that fans rocked were out of this world. In this picture alone is a Jerry Rice Raiders, Hank Gathers Loyola Marymount, Joe Jurevicius Browns, and Priest Holmes Chiefs. At Bacon Sports we have the largest community of sports fans that love jerseys so it was great to see fans going hard in the paint.
The bacon inspired creations were out of this world.
Chocolate and bacon is to die for!
The dance floor wasn’t the only place that had hops.
Redhook Brewery’s tap game was strong and their sports man cave was a huge hit.
Da Coach of Da Bears.
